El Medano is a city located on the south coast of the island – a place of pilgrimage for lovers of windsurfing and kiting. Constant crosswinds and a year-round season create a unique opportunity for the development of these sports. It has repeatedly hosted international competitions in windsurfing. Since El Medano is not a pronounced tourist area, local flavor is felt here, colorful Canarian and national holidays and festivals are held. The city has a beautiful promenade and equipped sandy beach. The city has a developed infrastructure: shopping centers, banks, educational institutions and bus service to other areas of Tenerife. Tourists coming to El Medano stay in the private sector or in a small number of available hotels.
